AVD service

The AVD service provides organizations with a centrally managed Azure Virtual Desktop environment, in which users’ virtual Windows desktops, applications, and AVD servers are deployed on Azure. Cloud PCS is responsible for the design, deployment, management, and ongoing development of the environment.

What is the AVD service?

Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) is a desktop and application virtualization service that runs in Microsoft’s Azure environment. It allows you to provide users with either a complete virtual Windows desktop or just the applications they need for work, in a controlled manner, across different devices and regardless of location.

In the AVD service, desktops, applications, and the AVD servers that run them are deployed on Azure. The environment can be built using personal virtual desktops or capacity shared by multiple users, depending on the organization’s user groups, applications, and security requirements.

For more information about the features of Azure Virtual Desktop, see the Microsoft documentation.

Who is the AVD service suitable for?

The AVD service is ideal for organizations that want to provide users with securely managed Windows desktops or applications from Azure. The service can be scaled to accommodate different user groups, applications, and workloads.

  • for organizations that want to migrate their virtual desktop environment to Azure
  • for user groups that need secure access to the Windows desktop from various devices and locations
  • situations where the goal is to provide users with only certain applications instead of a full desktop
  • for organizations that need virtual desktops for individual use or for shared use by multiple users
  • environments where capacity must adapt to changes in user numbers and workloads
  • to modernize your current remote desktop or other virtual desktop solution

What does Cloud PCS’s AVD service include?

Cloud PCS provides an AVD environment as a managed service, from design through ongoing maintenance and development. The content and scope of the service are defined based on the organization’s user groups, applications, security requirements, and current environment.

  • Assessment of the Current Situation and Needs: Identifying User Groups, Applications, Capacity, and Information Security Requirements
  • Environment Design: Defining AVD architecture, user-specific or shared capacity, and access rights
  • Implementation and Deployment: Deploying the AVD environment, desktops, applications, and AVD servers to Azure
  • Management and Maintenance: Continuous monitoring of the environment’s functionality, capacity, and needs for change
  • Development: Adapting the environment as user numbers, applications, and organizational needs change

Would the AVD service be a good fit for your organization?

Planning for the AVD service begins with an assessment of user groups, applications, security requirements, and the current environment. Together, we’ll determine what kind of Azure Virtual Desktop environment best meets your organization’s needs and how to best implement it.
